Student Assignment and School Boundary Changes

In 2023-2024, the Office of the Deputy Mayor for Education (DME) conducted a comprehensive review of District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS) boundaries and feeder patterns and public school student assignment policies in accordance with the Attendance Zone Boundaries Act of 2013. This review focused on solving current and anticipated future challenges relating to clear feeder rights, adequate capacity, and equitable access to public schools for the next 10 years.

As a result of this process, the following changes will take effect starting in SY25-26:

  1. The Amidon-Bowen and Van Ness boundary will shift.
  2. The Malcolm X @ Greene and Turner boundary will shift.
  3. Households within the Ross ES boundary that previously had multiple in-boundary middle schools will solely have feeder rights to John Francis Education Campus
  4. Households within the Thomson ES boundary that previously had multiple in-boundary middle schools will solely have feeder rights to John Francis Education Campus.
  5. Households within the Cleveland, Garrison, and Seaton elementary school boundaries will have a temporary right to enroll at John Francis Education Campus until Euclid Middle School opens.
